Description

Name: Hera
Aliases: Ash Queen, that Bi-polar Bitch
Factions: None?
Status: Active throughout the present
Alignment: Chaotic Hostile
Rank: 3

Measurements
Height: 10 Feet at the shoulder when walking and head lifted
Length: 35 Meters
Wingspan: 65 Meters
Weight: Light

Powers
-Wicked Strength: Hera’s biology is very similar to snakes, and so she has a lot of muscle throughout her serpentine body. These muscles can be put to many offensive uses from lashing her whole body as a weapon, to striking out with her wings as weapons, and even coiling around her enemies.

-Fire Breath: Hera’s stomach is an enigmatic charged organ. Flammable liquid fills the organ, created by the stomach walls. Once it contacts air, it bursts into fire and burns like jet-fuel. At around thirty-thousand-five degrees, Hera can incinerate smaller creatures in seconds and reduce man-made structures into slag within a minute. Platinum and other heat resistant materials fair better.

-Mutagenic Tissue: Hera’s skin, scales, blood and organs all hold a stable source of Enigma higher than other Kaiju. Its stability makes it highly valuable to mankind, being a high, safe source of Enigma Energy which can be safely manipulated. The trick is simply attaining it. It is also well known for causing mutation in living things if ingested or if it gets into the blood stream. If Hera bleeds or loses flesh in a fight, it’s not strange for random mutations to pop up in the immediate area.

Weaknesses
-Anger Issues: This dragon has a horrid temper. It is very easy to rile her into a fit of rage, so it can be easy to lure her into a trap or simply turn her attention away from whatever she is attacking. Her aggression also makes it highly unlikely she will ever cooperate with any possible allies.

Personality
Hera is by far one of the most compulsively angry, if not the very most compulsively angry Kaiju to ever exist. Aside being a typical dragon, she simply has a temper with a short fuse. It will not take much to goad Hera into action. It can be as simple as invasion of personal space that leads to a brief rampage and the loss of lives. It’s unknown exactly why she’s so quick to anger.

Objects new to her perceived territory are treated hostile. She is quick to burn them and then send them flying into the distance even if it’s just an out of place rock. Needless to say, she is unsociable with nearly everything, let alone Kaiju. Very few Kaiju have ever gotten close to Hera without her trying to set them on fire. On the rare occasion she is seen being serene, she’s normally lounging across rocks like a giant basking lizard. These calm moments are usually short lived since something usually strikes a nerve. If Hera has a lot of thought process, then it’s almost completely overshadowed by her unrelenting rage and aggression.

Bio Text
All of Europe was frantic. From the west coast all the way to the east, people were unsure what to do with the recent appearance of monsters. There were orders for more military power, starting with more battleships since Vastrato had smashed so many naval vessels. It was being debated whether that was a good use of currency to even bother since conventional military weapons only seemed to annoy the Kaiju into further destruction.

While political debates were held over what to do, there were issues of economic importance that needed tending too as well. After the incident that released Vastrato, there was a minor shortage of Enigma Energy in a very demanding market. Desperate companies attempting to rise up in the new age of Enigma Energy looked everywhere to get their foot in the door.
It was a few months later that in the Orkney Islands that something of most peculiar nature was discovered; a brown, stone-looking object that was being pawned off as a collectable rock that caught the eye of a blooming Enigma Corporation that was seeking its place among larger names. The stone in question was high in concentrated Enigma Energy that was so stable that it was completely safe to handle.
The man was asked to where he found the stone, and while hesitant, the mentioned that it was found on the remote island of Stronsay, near the coast. The company was eager to make a profit from this amazing material and organized a search for it immediately.
A group of ten men were sent to the far west shore of Stronsay, following remote roads and using a guide to lead them through rural, untamed land. One of the ten, Todd Walker, was more than happy to find the source of the miracle material for his company. In his mind, he imagined this was the economic chance of a lifetime. Money, possibly a chance at a high position for discovering a vast vein of the material, and bringing a bright future to Europe and maybe the rest of the world!

“I bet we’ll never have to work a day in our lives.”
“Bloody hell, enough of that. I swear, you are the most hyper blighter I ‘ever known,” said a man named Jones, who was tired of Todd’s eager nature.

“Aint’cha excited at all?”
“We don’t even know if there be any more of this rock. For all we know there may be no more. Accursed bigots up in their chairs back home, sending us out soon as they hear a rumor of this stuff; Idiots, the lot of’em.”
But Todd was optimistic. There was little that could discourage him.

Using a device that was deemed the “Enigma Meter” eventually led the group to a cavern just a half mile from the coastline. It wasn’t an easy climb down, but the further they went in, the larger the readings of Enigma. Finally they found it the material buried in the rock. A quick comparison and they confirmed they had found it.
Todd was excited! During that night, the group sat around a fire they had built while eating their provisions. The men spoke lively of their find. It was here that a peculiar topic came up.
“Ye know all these giant monsters walking around… it’s not so different from them ol’ stories.”
“What do you mean?” Asked Todd to the fellow… Ivan was it? Yes, Ivan.

“You remember the stories of the Vikings, don’t you?”
“What does men marauding and pillaging have to do with monsters?”
Ivan grunted. “It is not the men, but what those men believed in. You think you would know some history.”
“What was it they believed in, then? Tell me.”
Jones answered, “The Vikings believed in gods, and giants and trolls and other such tall tales of tall things. We are a bit away from that, the myths of these islands are not too different.”
“How so?” Todd was curious.
“Our guide would know.” And with that, they all looked to their man of the Orkneys.

Birger Tadashi looked up from his meal. “Oh don’t get me started on that old bunch of nothing; just a bunch of myth and legend that we all heard before.”
“But this lad d’know it.”
Birger sighed and began. “The story says that these islands were made when a giant dragon was killed. It is said that its liver was set on fire, and it shook the world as it thrashed in agony. Its teeth fell out and became the smaller isles, and its final movement it curled up like a snake before dying, creating the Orkney. But all of that is a story.”
Todd thought of the recent events around the world. This was the first time he heard of this story, although abridged by a disinterested man, the story of such a giant creature got his imagination going. “There are giant monsters now. They said some were sleeping a long time. What if the stories were true?”
Some of the men laughed, but others reacted with silence. Todd felt self-conscious and silly. Then again, if those giant monsters were real, then surely such a story could have been based on some true testament. Maybe sometime in the past something did exist. “It’s possible, isn’t it?”

“Never mind about that. These things that have appeared now have nothing to do with giants and dragons. What have we seen? A big bug, a big snake someone made in a test tube, and big lizards; dragons and gods they are not.”

The group called back with the news of their find and within a week whole drilling operation was set up. It was thought best to dig out the discovered vein first before digging up the whole area. While the giant drill was being set up above ground, many workers were sent below to begin excavating. A drill was set in place. When the head struck the material, everyone was stunned.

Blood.

It just poured out like lazy geyser, pooling into the floor. Todd, who was still present with the original ten discovers, felt confused and scared. The drill was stopped immediately as everyone gathered around, babbling and making a chorus of voices. It didn’t take long for any of them to realize what they had on their hands was a dormant Kaiju.
Todd finally brought his voice up to speak high above the others. “Quiet! QUIET! Everybody shut your bleeding mouths before you wake it up!”
Within ten seconds everyone quieted down, looking meek as they looked to the bleed wound in the buried creature.
“Alright, now... It’s still asleep. We didn’t wake it up, but we have to stop here and now before we end up waking that thing waking it.”
“No!” One man said. “We should keep drilling! Bring the drill down right onto its head and kill it before it has a chance to wake up.”
“Are you mad?! You all have seen what these creatures do. We would just end up making it madder than a badger with a thorn in its paw.”

The group began arguing amongst themselves. Again Todd spoke up. “I said be quiet!” He was afraid, but he wasn’t scared stupid. “Everyone, we must get out right this moment and report back to close down this operation.”

And so they did. The plans to dig up the area were immediately dropped. The company ordered the current workers there to stay on site and guard it until further notice as to what to do about the Kaiju they discovered. There was talk of attempting to kill it, but also talk of simply sealing off the area forever more with concrete and enough defensive measures so that nothing would possibly wake the thing up.
Todd was fascinated as much as he was scared. Birger’s words seemed all the more real. They drew blood from something alive in the rock, and he wondered if this was the creature that the story was based on. He wasn’t rehearsed in the mythology this area had, or even Europe’s.

Todd visited the mining site several times, looking at the rock wall that concealed the creature’s body. Was there really a monster, a dragon, behind all that? Asleep in rock? What if the entire land under their feet was the dragon from the myth alive and well? If such a thing did exist, then it shouldn’t ever be woken up.

The word, while kept on the sly, eventually got out yet another monster was discovered asleep in the Orkneys. Eventually it got to unwanted ears. Back in Southern Europe, a man by the name of Kane heard the story. Kane Hiltenstein was the founder and owner of Hiltenstein Energies, and was responsible for powering most of Europe with clean burning energy. No one suspected that a well trusted man had a second motive and what he was about to have done.

On the night of the twenty-second, a large group of militant infiltrated the mining camp and attacked the stationed men. The commotion woke Todd just in time, being nearly flogged over the head with some blunt object and managed to escape his attacker. The whole camp was in a chaotic struggle. Between pushing and running, Todd managed to duck behind a torn down tent and wait out the danger.

After the attackers gained control of the area, they took command of the machinery and put the drill to good use, drilling downward into the rock.

Todd watched on, unsure what to do. All the men were tied up and left alone with only two of the invaders guarding them. Only when he realized what they were doing did he attempt to do anything. He saw dynamite being pulled in and set down into the ground. These people were for the monster, though either trying to kill it or something else, it wasn’t good.

Without thinking, he went to his captured comrades and began trying to set them free from their bonds while trying to go unseen by the guards. He ducked when he heard one call out, but no one came. They ran off, the men regrouping and evacuating the area as fast as possible. That’ when the explosions came, rocking the area.

The cavern collapsed, along with most of the camp. Most of the company’s men, many now free thanks to Todd, were lost in the destruction. The survivors were disoriented, on the ground and holding their ringing ears.
Then a long neck emerged ruble. Todd, barely able to hear himself, stared up and wondered if he was imagining it. The loud scream it made was barely audible. When it spat fire out into the sky and lite up the area is when he bolted for cover.
A dragon! A real, fire breathing, sonuvabitching dragon!

Any surviving machines were reduced to sagging metal heaps. The remaining men were trying to run away, but they were quickly snatched up and eaten on the spot. Only Todd, staying still and hidden behind a pile of rubble, survived. With one more scream, the dragon’s wings opened and carried it off into the night sky.
Todd sat there shivering in absolute fear and shock. All he could do was think that it was their fault; that it was his fault…

Three towns were destroyed in the following days. The dragon attacked without warning, smashing buildings and eating all it could. Out of over two-thousand casualties, only two people were found alive in the aftermath. The world never expected an actual dragon to appear of all things, and it acted like something right out of a fantasy novel.
After these attacks, Kane would appear on millions of televisions with a message to the world.
“Greetings, my fellow members of the human race. Some of you may know me, or at least heard my name; my name is Kane Von Necrosis, and you have seen my work with the release of the dragon from the bowls of hell, as some of you more imaginative followers of God may see it. You are not necessarily wrong, for I saw this as the proper time to finally show you all that the end has begun. Mankind has ruled this world for centuries, thinking that it belongs to him and he may do with it as he pleases. I am here to correct this assumption. The world does not belong to any of us… We have simply moved in while the rightful owners have been away. The proper tenants are coming home and the time for the mice to play is over. Heed my words, brothers and sisters, for more than just dragons are on the return. Find solace now that there is hope for the future, and find solace with me. I will be the envoy into the future, living alongside of these powerful entities with peace and harmony. Join my legion, and I will show you the way…”

He still blamed himself for letting it happened, but now he knew it was also another’s fault as well…

All the while, Hera would turn her eyes toward the Highlands…

Important Dates

-September 6th-25th 2033: A strange rock high in Enigma Energy is discovered in a small market trying to sell collectable stones. This leads to the search for more of the material by a blooming company. The source of the strange stone is discovered and without hesitation, mining equipment is brought in. During the first attempt to drill out the material, blood spills out, revealing the vein of material to be a sleeping Kaiju. All activity immediately ceases. Legions of the Pantheon get wind of the event and coordinate an attack. They plant charges, and wake up the Kaiju who turns out to be a massive dragon. Hera, which she is deemed, quickly lays waste to what little is left of the encampment before flying off. Todd is the only survivor.

-Sept 29 and 30, 2033: After her attacks in the north, Hera settles into Iverness of Scotland and attempts to claim the city as her own territory. After failed rescue attempts, Thor, a humanoid kaiju, appears and battles the dragon. After a brutal fight, Hera is driven away. Thor and the survivors then proceed to party and get drunk in celebration before Thor departs.

EDIT: I made her a more original design now... if even possible for a dragon. Chest/neck plate frill things and a few frilly bits.

Hera has changed in that she has more in common with actual European dragons. Her design now reflects that. I sorta struggled with the design, trying to make something akin to a wooedcut dragon.
This change was something I did completely on my own, since I was wanting to use an old plot of mine, and given what that plot is, it makes more sense for her to be found somewhere in Europe. If you know anything of Orkney myth and Norse Myth, its not that hard to guess. And along with her comes yet another old face...
