Description

Stats

Name: Shairka
Alias: Josephina’s Monster Killer
Taxonomic Name: Archeomegas carcharo(Ancient Mega Shark)
Length: 136 meters
Weight: 25,000 tons
Means of Locomotion: Swimming, flailing on land
Alignment: Neutral/Good
Rank: Rank-2

Abilities

-Orthodontist Nightmare: It is common knowledge that sharks are covered in a tiny teeth, although there very tiny. Shairka takes this a step further. Her teeth are large and some are generally large and spike like, yet still serrated and deadly sharp. These oversized teeth help her cut through water at very high speeds, turning herself into a torpedo that can collide with devastating results. Even if her jaws down make contact, rubbing this shark the wrong way can still leave one in ribbons.

-Amphibious: A clumsy fish on land to say the least, but that doesn’t stop her from breathing air. Shairka, when she was young anyway, could move on land fairly well, as much as a Mudskipper. With age, she grew a bit too heavy to move as well, but still can to an extent. She can breath air rather well and is not just limited to the water all the time.

-Lightning Rod: The dorsal fine on Shairka is a unique adaptation that exists for some unknown purpose. The Ampullae of Lorenzini in Shairka is much more complex then an ordinary shark. It makes Shairka immune to electricity, of all things. Her Ampullae of Lorenzini channels the electric to her dorsal fin and stores it, turning the transparent parts of it blue as it holds the current. After that, Shairka can release it however she sees fit, weather to just release it aimlessly or at a target.

Weaknesses

-Clumsy: To say the least, Shairka isn’t all that great on land. Watching her bouncing and crawl is like watching a seal flopping along. She cant turn very well and simply can not live up to her fighting skill as well as she could.

-No Swim Bladder: Strangely enough, Shairka has no swim bladder. It is no surprise, but down to it she is more Orca like then shark like. The lack of a swim bladder, Shairka will sink If she isn’t moving and thus drown in water. For this, she often rests on land.

-No Long Range: For a monster that has some very impressive armor of teeth, they can only do so much from strong hits. With no long distance attack on her own(Besides absorbing electricity) then she is often stuck with having to fight in close combat.

Personality: For a shark, Shairka is relatively placid and even playful. She shows a very powerful brain power that even match’s the thinking power of such dolphins and much more. As a young pup, she fallowed Marian around like a puppy and barley left her side. Sort of a surrogate mother or sorts. In that time she learned how to obey commands and gestures. Though as she got older, she became less like a dog and more like a predator should be, but still retaining her ability to take orders from Marian.
Blood does not send the monster into a frenzy as expected. While it does make her more alert, she doesn’t become a monstrous killing machine. Though, she is very good at being that went hunting.
Often observed, even as a adult, Shairka seemed to play games. As a young creature, she would often act like a dolphin by jumping around, playing with seaweed and even with boats. A common game was biting into a fishing net and dragging the ship all over the place, which caused panic among the crew. In the end though, she would obey orders to let go or even return the boat on its own to the original place she found it. Her actions always puzzle Marian and others, as a shark never has been seen doing such things.
In conclusion, Shairka is a smart yet mischievous fish with many mysteries that her foster parent constantly tries to figure out.
With Marian to guide her, the power of super predators nature is always set toward good deeds and stopping disasters from taking place.

History: The escapade in Antarctica had yielded some major finds that were important to the new study of Kaijuology. Two items that were recovered from the lair of the giant cuttlefish: Oko, were two mysterious stones. One was white, and seemed to be a massive opal. Though, Opals were never so large. The other stone was more unique; the strange rocks glow bright like sunlight in the dark, but in a lit room the stone was a dark glittering green as if made up of tiny clear green pebbles with bright sparkling cores.
The green rock dubbed Mineral-X had strange properties. A strange form of energy flowed from it in an almost radiating force, much like radiation and heat. It was barley noticeable only in the dark when the light shone from it. No radiation detecting device could pick up the energy.
Marian split he time up between keeping track of Vastrato, studying Mineral-X and the strange white stone while trying to get a decent sleep too. Sometimes Vagrant tried talking her into sleep, much good as it did. She just simply would not listen to reason since to her, these finds were all to important.
It got to the point Vagrant simply took the rocks away. The tired kaijuologist nearly took his head off, but Zero helped by convincing her that sleep was just as important as studying a bunch of stones. Marian didn’t take too long to convince, as she nearly passed out on her feet. The mercenary put the white stone and Mineral-X into a storage box in Marians room, she was put to bed and was out before she was on the mattress.
That night, the white egg laid by the shining rocks in the dark. Hours passed, and the egg began to move and fidget into the next day, where a surprise awaited Marian and everyone else onboard.

July 13, 2017
Marian had slept a good long sixteen straight hours. She awoke when she found her body was being called by nature. After coming from the restroom, she walked by the storage box now was noticeable as it was turned over on its side and its contents all over the place.
While at first passing it up, she quickly turned around suddenly with her eyes wide. “Damn boys! I swear, males are so inconsiderate of other peoples things!” She took in a deep breath. “Do any men on this earth have a brain inside there body, other then there ass!?”
After the ranting she righted the box up. Its contents were all over; the Mineral-X and pieces of the white stone. “Oh, that’s lovely. The most important find on this trip,” She picked up a piece of white stone “and now its in… pieces?” she noticed how the white fragments were shaped. Then she noticed that they were not bits of rock, but thin and slimy. “What on earth?”
A sudden sound came from behind her. Her body spun around in reaction as she looked for whatever made the noise. Her eyes caught the movement of something going behind the desk as it grunted and snorted. Quickly she realized the situation: There was something in her quarters, very much alive.
Reaching for anything for a weapon, she raised up pinwrench. Slowly she walked around to the edge of the desk and peered over it. Nothing was there. She took in a deep breath and wondered what was going on.
She didn’t take notice that what she was looking for was sitting just behind her on the floor, looking up at her like a puppy. Its large eyes stared at her intently. As Marian moved forward with her pipe wrench, it fallowed, one fin in front of the other to carry itself.
Marian turned the corner of a table, unaware of being fallowed on two feet behind her. “Maybe I imagined it…” She took a deep breath and put the wrench down. She leaned on the table while she though for a moment. “Oh well.” Walking over to the storage box to continue cleaning up, she noticed she heard something, as if there were footsteps other then hers. When she stopped, so did the echo like steps. Marian put a foot forward, and took one step while keeping her ears alert. She heard a gentle “thud” from behind her.
She swung around and looked down, and jumped back as she saw the creature in front of her. “HOLY HELL!” she jumped up on a desk and off the floor.
The eyes of the creature stared up at her, big and almost anime like. Its large teeth interlocked with each other and its tailfin swayed back and forth slowly. Its fins held it up like strong arms and claws came out the end as if they were made for walking on land as well as swimming like a aerodynamic torpedo. It was a bloody shark, though not like anything that anyone has ever seen.
They stared at each other, but only Marian seemed to be in shock. What was this thing? She reached out for the nearest thing she could find: a paperweight. She held it briefly, then held it out. The eyes of the animal stared at it like a dog staring at food in a humans hand. Moving it left and right, its head fallowed in the basic direction.
Suddenly she tossed it off to the side. Immediately the shark chased after it, bounding along like a seal on land as it chased the paperweight. Marian jumped off as soon as it did and went for the pipe wrench, but she stumbled and fell. When she tried to get up, the shark creature had the paperweight in its mouth, before spitting it out and finding it was not eatable. Its eyes went back to Marian, who froze in fear. “Uh oh…” she remained frozen. “Maybe if I don’t move… it wont come for me…” she though to herself.
At first that seemed to work. Then the shark moved forward a flipper step, its eyes curious. It moved closer again, stopping to look at Marian again as if it was having a hard time seeing. Marian prepared to run, tensing her muscles.
When it was in a foot or two of her, it stopped and settled down. She stared at it, stunned that it hasn’t jumped on her and killed her already. Very slowly she stood on her arms, pulling her legs slowly so is not to make no sudden movement. Still the creature made no threatening move toward her.
Deciding that it might be safe, she stood up and stared down at the large eyes of what seemed to be a young, if not newborn animal. “Well, you’re a… cute one…” Trying to find the words for it. It seemed to react to her words and made a gasping squeak like noise. Its gills flapped. Taking notice, she wondered if it was having a hard time breathing. “I guess your not going to hurt me, or else you would have done so by now.” she leaned down and held out her hand. The young creature sniffed at her, then tilted his head as best it could. It made another gasp like squeal and bounced up and down in a almost silly display.
She then got an idea. She quickly walked over to the refrigerator and got can of anchovies’ and popped the can open. The rancid salty fish filled the room and instantly had the babies attention. Slowly she offered out a piece of fish, and delicately the teeth parted to accept the salty piece of meat which it eagerly swallowed it.
After feeding the whole cane to the young one, it went back to exploring the room. Marian saw this creature was harmless, figuratively. And that it looked to her for guidance as if she was a parent to it. The though of keeping a pet Kaiju made her almost made her do a dance.
Though, then she realized that she would have to keep it a secret. She had too, otherwise the crew might want to get rid of it or it would be sent to some lab to be cut open like frog in a biology class. “Great, I become a mom in one day and I didn’t plan on it, AND I feel protective over it. What is wrong with me…”

Marian kept the baby shark hidden for several days. In that time she learned many things of it, such as its understanding of what Marian says and does and learns fast. Feeding it became a difficult chore; the baby was growing fast and needed to eat more every single day. Even day one it was bigger then its original egg size.
She gave the young shark a name; Shairka. It wasn’t the most creative name in the world, but with all the stress of taking care of it, it was excusable. The name sounded feminine anyway, since Shairka was female. Shairka seemed to know her name right from the start; Her brainpower was proving to be very strong.
Soon though, Shairka was proving to be much harder to take care of then expected. Her size seemed to double every day. Within a week, Shairka was getting to the size of a adolescent Great White Shark and eventually had to be moved to the storage area of the ship before she couldn’t fit.
Getting her to that part of the ship was a titan sized chore all of its own. A one thousand pound baby shark flopping along the ships metal corridors proved to be near impossible. Several times Marian nearly got caught by crewmembers of the ship.
After much effort, Marian finally got Shairka to the lower deck of the ship and in a larger overall room. Though there was still the issue of getting her out of the ship when she was simply too big for the ship to even hold her mass.

July 20, 2017
Marian was in the haul of the ship with Shairka, who now was bigger the average great white shark. Still, this thing was still a baby and growing, very fast and soon she wouldn’t be able to keep her a secret from the ship, an ultimately the world.
Shairka was for the moment sleeping, head to the ground and eyes closed. He gills flapped every other moment as if working for air, though they didn’t need too since Shairka could breath ordinary air.
“What am I going to do?” She talked to herself. “Your growing like a weed. How am I going to feed you?” Marian stared at Shairka who was blissfully asleep still. “I still cant even figure out how your growing so fast without sufficient food. Its like your built to grow in air or something.” Even though that was impossible even for a Kaiju’s standards.
With a heavy sigh she sat back and looked up at the metal ceiling. The lights dimly lit the cargo area just enough for good eyesight. Pondering the babies growth was the number one thing on her mind for the moment. She recalled Oko exchanging the egg and gathering the glowing rocks form Antarctic cavern, and so much other stuff from the trip over a week ago before. “That egg shouldn’t even survive in that cold water… yet it did… how did Oko even get the egg?” She sat up.
As she stood on her feet, she froze and had an epiphany. She remembered the Mineral-X that was in the storage box next to Shairka’s opal like egg and how it sat next to it all night when Vagrant forced her to go to bed. “The Minerals-X, it must have something to do with-” before she could finish blabbing to herself, she heard some one calling her name.
“Marian! You down here?” The voice was Vagrants.
In a panic Marian ran around. “Oh crap, crap, crap!” franticly she looked for where Vagrant was coming from. Shairka stirred from the echoing voice and raised her head. Marian gestured for her to hide, which Shairka learned what to do when she made the gestures. Shairka quickly dragged herself deep into the wooden maze of wooden boxes.
Vagrant came around the corner and looked at Marian, who looked guilty as if she committed a crime. “You okay?” he asked curiously.
“Yes, fine, why do you ask?” She did her best to hide her worry.
“Because I noticed you looked… and have been for the last week or so, you look like you been in distress. Its my job to make sure your okay. Otherwise the UN is wasting money.”
“Really, im fine.”
“If you say so…” he turned and walked away. “Don’t waste your time down here!” he called over his shoulder.
She waited till he was out of hearing distance. Then she scowled and mumbled “Do not order me around.” taking a deep breaths, she went to find Shairka. “Shairka! Where are you?” It took a few minutes, but when she did, Shairka had broken into a box of iced fish and was eating the bodies of stored Yellow-Fined Tuna.
“Shairka!” The young shark turned its head to see Marian with a scolding voice and face. “Bad girl! You know better.” grabbing and pulling on Shairkas tail, not that she could move the heavy shark. Shairka turned head down and swallowed the last bit of fish in her mouth, then moved away to cease eating the fish. “I swear, what am I going to do with you?” She sighed. “How will I explain this?”
“You wont…” A voice came from behind.
She quickly spun around to see Vagrant standing there, hand on his gun as usual in the presence there may be danger. Feeling like she was about to get yelled at, she got between Shairka and Vagrant first. “Okay, before you freak out, I had no idea this was gonna happen.”
Vagrant relaxed a bit. “Monster lover, I swear your going to get yourself killed one of these days! You have any idea what you been taking care of?”
“A newborn Kaiju, one that is friendly.” Defending herself.
“Friendly… yeah, seems to be a common occurrence don’t ya think?”
“Isn’t that a good thing? Look, this can lead to something big. Something that can help us in this new age of monsters that threaten humanity. If I can train Shairka to-”
“You named it?”
“I named her. We name all monsters remember?”
“Yes, a monster, not a child like Zero that you can reason with. She may be cute now, but she’s a monster to begin with and a cold blooded shark to make it worse. One day its going to grow up into a predator that for all you know, eats its own parent!”
Marian let out a sight. “You wont even let me have chance. This is good, I can tell, I have a feeling!”
Vagrant turned away and grumbled something to himself, then turned to give her a stern look. He raised a finger, and didn’t speak at first. Finally he said the words. “Okay, fine. You’re the expert monster fan girl, if this is your experiment, then fine. But if at all this thing,” he pointed to Shairka “shows that she is a danger, a problem, im putting a bullet between her eyes.”
She gulped and looked at Shairka, who looked clueless to the serious tone of the conversation. Looking back to Vagrant, she nodded.
Then both of them heard a sneeze from around the corner. Both rolled there eyes and said the same thing. “Zero!”

So Zero learned to of the secret that Josephina Marian kept aboard the ship. He of course kept his mouth shut as Vagrant did and all three took turns to take care of Shairka as well as keep her a secret. Eventually Shairka’s size again became a problem once again as she continued to gain mass.
Marian had explained before to Vagrant that the Mineral-X some how was affecting the growth spurt of Shairka, and also suspected it for hatching the egg she came from. She though if she kept Shairka away from it, the growing would slow to a normal pace. Yet, Shairka kept growing rapidly and everyday she was larger then before.
After a while, the three decided to move Shairka to the back end of the ship where there was a large dock, and the smaller ship Belemnite, as well as the Mini-submarine used before in Antarctica. There was plenty of room to spare and access to the wide open ocean for Shairka so her size issue is finally taken care of once and for all.

July 23, 2017
“Come on Shairka, keep moving.” Marian encouraged the young shark, who now was somewhat bigger then a Great White Shark and barley could fit through the halls of the ship. She was leading Shairka to the end of the ship where the dock was.
“Cant this damn thing bounce along any faster?” Said from behind Shairka, were Vagrant and Zero were taking up the end. “We are vulnerable right now, we can easily get caught with something this big making so much noise.”
“Calm down Vagrant, its not like were going to get shot or anything. This isn’t some third world country.”
“Says you.”
Zero just shook his head. “Im sure we we’ll be fine. What’s the worst the can happen if we get caught?”
“Thrown off the ship…”
“I doubt they do that here in the 21st century.” She rolled her eyes.
“Quiet, were almost there.” Zero hushed them both.
Marian opened the door to the back dock and walked through. “Come on Shairka.” Shairka barley squeezed her head through the door, let alone the rest of her.
Vagrant came in behind her and froze. “Uh, Marian”
“What?”
“That…” he pointed behind her.
Marian turned around, to see that several crewmembers were on the dock area and all staring at her with Shairka.
“Buusteeeddd.” Zero said, walking through the door.
“Crap…” Vagrant said.
“Fuck!” Marian cursed aloud. “I forgot maintenance was going on down here today!”
As expected, all three were taken up to the captains quarters to have a word with the captain of the ship. To say the least, he was utterly pissed off.
“You dimwitted girl! You trouble making child! And you useless mercenary! I knew this was nothing but trouble. The girl brought the monsters on, okay, I can deal with that, but the kid was enough as it as it is and the first sign of trouble! Then she brings a damn monster onto my ship, for all we know would eat my crew. Im responsible for there lives you know! As if that wasn’t enough, Mr. Mercenary here joins in like a pitiful pup fallowing its bitch mother! TELL ME WHY I SHOULDN’T DUMP YOU OFF AT THE NEXT PORT!?” All in one big breath.
All three were quiet, though with different reasons. Zero was actually trembling while Vagrant stood silently as he listened. Typical don’t speak unless spoken too first deal. Marian on the other hand just ignored the words.
After words, Marian spoke up. “Captain, this is part of my research. I know I should have told yo-”
“DAMN RIGHT YOU SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME!” Another violent outburst from the elderly man, his eyes bloodshot with much fury.
“Yes, right. Now you do know, and I can assure you that there is no risk from Shairka. She is as harmless as a housecat.”
“Housecats can claw Josephina.”
“Well, now she will be spending her life in the water around the ship. She wont even be onboard the Ammonite any longer. I say since no harm was done and the shark isn’t on the ship anymore, then there isn’t any reason for you to have such a fit.”
The captain grumbled something then nodded. “Do not pull another stunt like this again, or else you can find another ship and captain.”
“Yes sir.” She turned and walked out, with Zero and Vagrant behind her.
It was the young Zero that spoke first. “I don’t like that guy. All he does is yell and treat us all like animals.”
“He is an old man. People get cranky when they get old.” Marian tried to defend the old guy, having and understanding of what aging to an elder must do to some one.
“Well I prefer to stay on his good side. This bodyguard stuff pays good and I rather it not lose the job that will pay off my retirement early.”
With wide eyes, Marian stared at Vagrant. “Is my safety THAT important?”
He looked at her with stern eyes. “United Nations seems to think so.”
“Huh… well, that’s news to me.” Feeling special, Marian smiled and walked off to attend her duties.

Just as promised, Shairka was off the ship for the rest of the time. Her growth saw to that and she soon grew too large to even get onto the docking area. It didn’t seem to bother her as the water was more natural to her then land. Even her diet changed as she found hunting for prey was much more favorable. First with schools of larger fish, other sharks, dolphins and eventually going deep and bringing back giant squid from deeper water.
Shairka and her foster mother, Marian, still continued to interact and learn patterns to easily communicate. Soon though, there cooperation would soon be put to the test like never before.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alrighty, time to introduce the monster in DOM. Shairka! Not far too much has changed at all, just a change in story and a slight change of look. Other then that, Shairka is the same old shairka. When your doing a Shark Kaiju, you cant really do much in the first place. And what more you can do has been done.
the story wise, isnt about action or sci-fi this time. Its more of a personality and bonding thing, getting to know the characters a little more and getting Shairka herself settled in for the future. Its also more comedy based then before, and I originally had alot more story in Shairkas profile where Marian tries to hide Shairka. But I ultimatly decided with her rapid growing, I had to shorten it.
However, I made up with the captains personality. As I went along with that, I decided this captain is going to be a main character with no name other then "captain". Just a crotchaty old man that pilots the S.S Ammonite that gets plenty of screen time and plenty of yelling scenes.

Final notes, the reason this profile came up so fast behind Oko is because im working on sevearl profiles at once for these next batch of monsters. So stay tuned, we got even more monster goodness comming up in the fallowing week or so.
